Traditional or Modern? Find Your Perfect Style

Linear double-sided fireplace with TV overhead connects luxury indoor space in contemporary decor with outdoors.

Whether you’re building a new construction home or transforming your existing house into dream-home status, many people are making significant home investments, prioritizing features that add comfort and make a house feel like a sanctuary.

Installing a fireplace is often at the top of the to-do list—and for good reason. In addition to providing an incomparable focal point, a fireplace adds warmth and sophistication like no other feature can. Hearths truly are the heart of our homes, bringing families and friends together.

Traditional

With their ornate faces, decorative mantels, arched lintels and classic firebrick, a traditional wood-burning hearth is what most people imagine when they hear the word “fireplace.” We have a natural attraction to the traditional concept of burning wood in a fireplace—but a wood-burning hearth isn’t always feasible (or affordable) for every home.

That’s where traditional gas fireplaces come in: Super-realistic logs and natural stone or wood surrounds provide all the things we love about wood-burning fireplaces, but in a much more convenient, nearly maintenance-free package.

Modern

While traditional fireplaces emulate what we love about wood-burning hearths, modern gas models completely reinvent the design wheel. Essential to this style are clean lines, unique fire beds and flames that are as stylish as they are warm. Similar to how we display art, modern hearths often are positioned higher on the wall, even at eye level.

Fireplaces with a modern flair offer the same benefits as traditional gas fireplaces—such as Wi-fi or touchscreen controls and heat management technology—but with sleek looks that fit seamlessly into a more contemporary home.
