Adding an electric fireplace to your space as part of a renovation or refresh shouldn’t be stressful; it should be fun, exciting, and — most importantly — easy! Check out their handiwork below and get inspired to start a project of your own.
Saudah Saleem
Interior designer Saudah Saleem transformed three rooms in her home as part of an eight-week challenge, including revamping her primary bedroom from builder grade basic to totally transportative. Her goal was to make the space feel like a retreat from the demands of a busy day, and with the addition of an electric fireplace insert, she can simply switch it on to unwind in modern yet classic surroundings that embrace relaxation.
“Adding a fireplace really speaks to the age of the house … but the updated surround (using fluted door casing) is what gives the fireplace design an updated look,” Saleem says. “It’s the perfect blend of old and new.” Check out more about her fireplace install here.
Mornings on Macedonia
In just two weeks, DIYer Charity and her husband not only added a modern linear electric fireplace to their living room, but cut and installed their own subway tile and wooden shiplap around it! Charity called whole process “unbelievably easy,” from installing the fireplace to adding decorative rocks and screwing in the glass. The result? A custom look that really warms up the room—pun intended.
Nest Out West
This design duo added not one, not two, but three SimpliFire electric fireplaces to their home! First, they upgraded their living room with a back-to-back 36” built-in electric fireplace, opting for marble-esque porcelain tile on one side and white oak on the other.
They loved the look so much they decided to install a 50” Allusion Platinum electric fireplace in their basement, which they customized with white rocks and faux wood. Their toddler may be the biggest fan of the updates, especially when it comes to the many color-changing options.
Brick End Haus
Designer Nedra gave her basement a “glow up” by replacing the existing wood burning fireplace with a 35” electric insert. “With a call to a local tradesman and a few hours of work, my wood-burning fireplace was converted to fit the electric fireplace insert,” she said of the transformation. Getting cozy is as simple as pressing a button, and her bright, welcoming space proves it.
Kate Chipinski
After learning that the existing fireplace would cost thousands of dollars to fix, DIYer Kate got crafty and painted the brick white, then installed back-to-back electric fireplace inserts to give her space a more modern look and feel. “We are in love with them! They set a mood, blow heat and run very efficiently,” she said of the new addition. Want to see the total transformation? Check out their before and after video.
