Create a home for a growing family that offered modern functional spaces with amazing views and connection between the interior and outdoors

This custom modern home was designed to have a light and airy interior, with ample space to entertain and live while also offering areas for solitude and reflection. The property itself sits on a hillside directly next to a park and running trails, necessitating a design that took full advantage of the scenery.

Living spaces and bedrooms were designed to face out to fully soak in the views while still maintaining a level of privacy. “It definitely had a lighter, brighter feel than other designs I’ve done,” explains Jordan Iverson, the design-builder behind the property.

With views top of mind, Iverson sought a linear fireplace that would complement the vaulted ceilings and expansive windows, while still being proportional to the space. “This is the first design where I incorporated windows fully surrounding a fireplace,” Iverson says. To achieve the industrial modern aesthetics for which he is known, Iverson specified the Mezzo series gas fireplace. For the fireplace surround, Jordan used reclaimed wood and blackened steel to create the room’s centerpiece.
